I’ve had this dress for almost a year, and haven’t worn it, and I finally was like, let’s do this, let’s create something. I got this at an antique store up in Duluth, Minnesota, along with those white fringe moccasins you’ve seen in other LookBooks. I loved that this has a 50s diner waitress feeling to it. With the large shoulder, cinched waist, and simple stripes. The thing with stripes is that they have the ability to be a huge statement on their own, without throwing more patterns or colors. So I went for a black and white pallete for this reason. The black faux fur coat was the perfect glamorous touch to finish the look along with the classic pin-up red lip by Kat Von D. I went for a matching set of earrings and necklace in blue from Pakistan for a bit of color, and left the dress open with no undershirt to make it a little sexier, because I love when the top of my tattoo peaks out.
I’m not a huge retro fashion person, as you all can tell, but I was mega inspired by vintage styled girls on Instagram, specifically a girl who goes by @owlista. If you want some serious retro inspiration, she is one of my faves. She has fabulous dresses, her hair is adorable, and her glasses are on point.
