I was up in Northern Wisconsin back in July, and we stopped at the cutest thrift shop called Fig Tree Leaf. They were having a huge sale on all apparel, so I scooped up a large bag of items for under $5, and this dress was in it! I’m not a huge fan of dresses in this style, but I loved the pattern and decided to just grab it, if it didn’t fit I could donate it. It fit like a glove and I was ecstatic.
This was the outfit I wore to a more professional interview. I know some of you may be wondering why I didn’t go for a blazer or cardigan to cover my tattoos, and honestly, it’s because it was super hot out and I didn’t want to sweat to death. Since the dress was an appropriate cut, no possibility of cleavage, and the dress met the fingertip rule, it was a great option. I kept the whole look as simple as possible, with black leather booties, and only some long metal earrings as my accessories because the pattern is so dramatic. Even my lipstick was a muted peach color called Dohee, from Colourpop. I was attempting to feign adultness, it almost worked. But apparently my personality is bigger than I knew, the interviewer commented on it as I was leaving. What can I say? Can’t change who you are.
